How do you know if a camp is providing a safe environment for your child this summer? You don’t. Not unless the camp is accredited and up-to-date with all the latest guidance on COVID for 2021. The American Camp Association has been accrediting camps in North America since 1910. As a non-profit organization, the ACA helps families locate summer camps that meet government-recognized standards. The ACA is the only accrediting body for summer camps in North America, and as such, they provide the only reliable peer-review process for independent summer program operators.

The American Camp Association helps member camps provide:

  • COVID health and safety practices
  • Age-appropriate activities and healthy learning experiences
  • Discovery through experiential physical education
  • Caring, competent role models and educators
  • Service to the local community and the environment
  • Opportunities for leadership and personal growth

ACA Accreditation means that your child’s summer camp cares enough to undergo a thorough peer review of its operation — from staff qualifications and training to emergency management. American Camp Association collaborates with experts from the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American Red Cross, and other youth-serving agencies to assure that current practices at your child’s camp reflect the most up-to-date, research-based standards in camp operation. Camps and ACA form a partnership that promotes growth and fun in an environment committed to safety. –

In support of our commitment to provide a safe, fun, and secure camp experience, SportsTyme became ACA Accredited in 2019. New staff members attend an annual workshop where they undergo specialized training under ACA guidelines. Preparation for our 2021 summer program has already begun. If you would like to learn more about the American Camp Association and what they provide for our curriculum, feel free to visit our camp information page.
